Prepping our House for a Baby

The past few months we have been working on organizing and trying to get our house ready for our little baby. Now that were on the final stretch, happy that my list of things to do had shrunk and theres only a few bits and pieces to work on, plus its really becoming really difficult to move around these days because of the pains here and there and Im not as quick as I used to be โ€” Im always out of breath!

So let me share a few things that Ive prepared to hopefully make our lives easier on the upcoming arrival.. ๐Ÿ˜Š

1. Post Partum Box

When I first gave birth, I dont remember researching much or have I done any preparation for myself. It was mostly baby things but as a mom or a new mom you go through a lot and you have to take care of yourself. So just a little side story, 12 years back after giving birth since I ddnt do any research about post partum care, I ended up just following what my mom would tell me those old ways witch-doctory stuff, like washing down there with boiled guava leaves, which helps faster healing of the perineal tear and to refresh down there too. I would probably do the same of those leaves are available here but, yea Ive done a bit of research and so lets see how it works!

I have the TUCKS Cooling Pads for down there and Im planning to make some DIY padsicles which Iโ€™ll talk about on a separate post using Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel and heavy duty Period Pads. And my Hot Water Bottle, something I use at the moment for back pains, well see if Id need it but I keep it on that box anyway.

2. Breastfeeding Station

I set this breastfeeding station on my bed side drawer. Its basically a movable station since its on a tray. Im thinking if Im going to be expressing milk at the nursery, I can move it there too.

It consists of my Haakka Silicone Pump which I seen loads of good reviews on, so yea Im excited to use it as well! โ€” some Burp Cloths I hand stitched, Breast Pads and some Wet Wipes. I also store my prenatal vitamins which Im going to continue on taking while breastfeeding since Im planning to exclusively breastfeed.

At my bottom drawer which isnt pictured above, is just my snacks drawer with bottles of water as well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

3. Kitchen Baby Drawer

Finding an empty cupboard in our kitchen was a bit of a task. We had to organize our cupboards and maximize space and rearrange a lot of stuff especially our pantry. I think as a working couple, we ddnt really focus on keeping these cupboards organized because we dont see it anyways so things were mostly thrown and just chucked in hehe.. ๐Ÿ˜… But yea now we have to be more a bit organized and so weve created this system now in the entire house which would ultimately help us and make our lives easier with a little one in the household.

So this space is next to our fridge, handy for storing my milk stash for the baby so here are Breastmilk Storage Bags. Also in this cupboard is her Bottle Sterilizer, Brush and some Sterilized Bottles in a ziplock bag ready for use.

The past couple of days I think I was feeling a bit anxious and excited at the same time for her arrival and I was telling my husband that I feel disorganized and then he laughed hard on my face lol and started pointing out the things Ive already prepared and so I calmed down and Im like โ€œOk, were ok then..โ€ he laughed again because he said we are more than ready, everything we need is here and that Ive done a great job organizing, he said I might be anxious because theres nothing more on my list and like our wedding, Ive started microorganizing things because Ive started posting post-it reminders that would example say โ€œgrab this for hospitalโ€ โ€” ๐Ÿ˜‚

OCD and Mommy life. What a combination! ๐Ÿ˜™
